Are organic oats good for dogs?#
Yes, in the right amount. Organic oats are a gentle whole grain that most dogs digest well, providing soluble fibre, B vitamins and a steady source of carbohydrate energy.
They're a common base for baked dog treats because they hold together well and are generally well tolerated, including by many dogs with mild grain sensitivities to other cereals.
How we use it#
We use organic oats in a number of our handmade baked cookies and treats, cooked and prepared specifically for dogs, without the added sugar or salt found in oats made for people.
They're a favourite base ingredient for training treats thanks to their mild flavour and easy digestibility.
Anything to watch?#
Oats should always be plain and dog-appropriate, never flavoured instant oats made for humans, which can contain added sugar or other ingredients unsuitable for dogs. Treats containing oats should be counted within your dog's daily food allowance to avoid excess calories.
If your dog has a diagnosed grain allergy or intolerance, ask your vet before introducing oat-based treats.
