Is organic lamb good for dogs?#
Yes, in the right amount. Organic lamb is a naturally rich source of protein, iron, zinc and B vitamins, and many dogs find it easier on the stomach than more common proteins like chicken or beef.
Because it's less frequently used in commercial dog food, lamb is often chosen as a novel protein for dogs who may be sensitive to other meats.
How we use it#
We include organic lamb in a number of our raw meal recipes, balanced with vegetables, organ meat and bone content, and in some of our handmade treats.
It's a protein we often suggest to owners whose dogs haven't done well on chicken or beef, as a way of ringing the changes without compromising on nutrition.
Anything to watch?#
Lamb is naturally fattier than chicken or turkey, so portion size matters, particularly for dogs prone to weight gain or pancreatitis. Introduce it gradually and keep an eye on stool consistency.
If your dog has a diagnosed sensitivity to fat, a history of pancreatitis, or any other condition, check with your vet before adding lamb to their diet.
