Is liver good for dogs?#
Yes, in small amounts. Liver is one of the most nutrient-dense foods you can offer a dog, packed with vitamin A, iron, copper and a full range of B vitamins.
Because it's so concentrated, liver is typically used as a smaller component of a balanced meal or as an occasional treat, rather than a main protein source.
Anything to watch?#
Because liver is so rich, too much of it can cause loose stools in the short term and, if fed in excess over a long period, an imbalance of vitamin A. Stick to it as part of a balanced meal or as an occasional small treat rather than a daily large portion.
If your dog has a liver condition or any concern around vitamin A, check with your vet before feeding liver regularly.
