Is coconut oil good for dogs?#
In small amounts, many owners use coconut oil as an occasional addition to their dog's diet or coat care routine. It's a fat some believe supports coat shine, and it can also be massaged into dry paw pads or skin.
As with any added fat, it should be used sparingly and isn't a substitute for a balanced diet.

Where coconut oil appears in our range, it's included in carefully measured amounts within a recipe or care product, rather than as a large standalone addition.
We recommend starting with a very small amount if adding it to your dog's food and building up slowly, only if your dog tolerates it well.
Anything to watch?#
Coconut oil is calorie-dense and high in saturated fat, so too much can lead to weight gain or an upset stomach, and in some dogs, loose stools. It's not suitable in larger amounts for dogs with pancreatitis or other fat-sensitive conditions.
If your dog has a history of digestive sensitivity or pancreatitis, check with your vet before adding coconut oil to their diet.
